The Environmental Change Research Group (ECRG) works with communities around the world to better understand their relationships with the environment and how it is changing, using this understanding to identify and evaluate pathways for adaptation.
Led by Dr. Tristan Pearce, the group takes a grassroots, interdisciplinary approach to research and draws upon multiple knowledge systems, scientific and traditional.
The goal of the ECRG is to contribute to the development of sustainable environmental and social policies that better reflect and support the needs, concerns and aspirations of communities. The strength of the ECRG is its members, past, present and future. The group builds upon the legacy of the Global Environmental Change Group at the University of Guelph led by Dr. Barry Smit.
