About
The Environmental Change Research Group (ECRG) works with people and communities around the world to better understand their relationships with the natural environment and how it is changing. We use this knowledge to empower communities to make informed decisions about the environment and natural resources in a changing climate.
Led by Dr. Tristan Pearce, the group takes a grassroots, interdisciplinary approach to research that draws upon multiple knowledge systems and ways of knowing.
Our research goal is to contribute to the development of sustainable environmental, social, and economic policies that support local livelihoods and environmental integrity. The strength of the ECRG is its members, past, present and future. The research group builds upon the legacy of the Global Environmental Change Group in the Department of Geography at the University of Guelph led by Dr. Barry Smit.
