Over the last two and a half months Miguel has been working as a Communications intern for the UN Environment - Chemicals & Health Branch in Geneva. This has included writing articles, writing and designing policy briefs, tweeting (follow @JacobDuer and @chemandwaste!), as well as enjoying the beautiful culture and scenery of France and Switzerland. Miguel has also been helping to translate documents to Spanish and in general with Latin American projects. He has learned a lot about how the United Nations operates, its relationship to governments and the private sector, and has been part of connecting the UN Environment and Global Environment Facility (GEF) with Aruba and other SIDS in the Caribbean. All in all this work has made him even more excited about sustainability, environmental justice and climate adaptation and he is looking forward to working with other young people, islanders and Indigenous communities to solve some of these problems from now into the future.
