Halena Scanlon is currently in Ulukhaktok, NT, working with community researchers to document Inuit knowledge of ringed and bearded seals in a changing climate. Project findings will strengthen our understanding of seal ecology and the impacts of environmental change on Arctic marine species, supporting evidence-based co-management. Funding is provided by Crown-Indigenous Relations and Northern Affairs Canada, with additional support from the Department of Fisheries and Oceans Canada, ArcticNet, and the Canada Research Chair program.
