UNBC Professor of Physical Geography Adam Hawkins, MA (Geography) candidate Madeleine Fisher, and incoming graduate student Elizabeth Arich attended the ArcticNet conference from December 15-18. ArcticNet provides a forum for Northern and Arctic residents, researchers, and decision-makers to gather, connect, collaborate, and share knowledge and research projects. Conference themes include terrestrial and marine ecosystems, well-being, infrastructures, energy, economy, and more.

Madeleine, supervised by Dr. Tristan Pearce, presented a poster on her ongoing research with the NU-COAST (Coastal Adaptation Strategies in Nunavut) project. Her research, in collaboration with the Hunters and Trappers Organization in Kugluktuk, is working to document and describe how community members are affected by coastal change.
